The island of Hvar belongs to the group of Middle Dalmatia islands. Its name derives from the Greek word Pharos – lighthouse It is covered mostly by pine forest what gives him an extraordinary pleasant climate. The island of Hvar is „the most sunniest spot in Europe“ – with even 2.700 sunshine hours per year and it is one of the most beautiful islands in the world, preserving the spirit of the historical heritage of Illyria, Greece and Rome, intertwined during the time into a whole of people and space of modern times. The town of Hvar, situated in picturesque natural surroundings, is facing the southern, sunny cardinal direction that gave it all the Mediterranean attraction and cheerfulness. The town also faces the see that gave it a shiny and unrepeatable history, it is an inexhaustible treasury of sights, atmosphere and adventures. From the sights you should see there are; the Hvar fortress, the Cathedral of St. Stephen, the Arsenal, the Franciscan Monastery, Grapčeva cave... Due to a lots of sunshine on the whole island, it is very attractive for growing vines, and therefore the Hvar vineyards produce up to 50 000 hectoliters of wine per year.
The recommended time of departure by vehicle from Split to the ferry for the island is at 08:00. In approximately 2.5 hours by ferry we will to the town of Stari Grad (Old Town) on the island of Hvar. The journey to the town of Hvar will last about 30 minutes. There we will go sightseeing, with foreseen lunch at 13:00 and free time for bathing (if desired). Around 16:00 we will leave the town of Hvar for Stari Grad to catch the ferry that will take us back to Split. The foreseen arrival to the town of Split is around 19:30.
